Oil problem.

Got everything together. Took it out and noticed it was a little bit smokey. Watch the video haha
This is a 1996 elite SA.
I didn't know if it got mixed to rich. Or if there was an oil leak. So I emptied the gas and noticed that the vacuumed thing wasn't working and I emptied the oil because it was junk stuff from the previous owner... Is there a way to check if my oil pump is working? I really don't want to go to premix. Here's a picture of the oil that came out the exhaust...
Anyone have any ideas how to check if it works or have a used one I can buy!

Hi Rowe,
While on tick over, you can pull on the control lever on the pump for maximum oil flow to put a bit of extra oil im the engine.
Then, disconnect the oil line at the carb end and if the pump's working, you should see oil ooze out the end. Pull on the oil control lever to make it ooze more.
Then kill the engine and reattach the oil lines.
If it doesn't ooze, check for airlocks in the pipes.

Sorry, just took in the bit about checking the pump was working.
Could be the oil control arm is set too rich or it could be the cable sticking.
If it's a sticking cable it can be fixed by oiling it and cleaning up around the lever pivot.
On my melody there's arrows on the pump to set the mix but yours might be different. If you've modded anything one of the experts will be able to give you better advice, would probably need to do a plug chop to get the mix right and make sure that the plug isn't fouled by too much oil.
Oh, another idea, has it ever been run on premix? If so could be some extra oil in system still.
Or if you've used plenty of oil during a rebuild, it'll smoke more then settle down.
Has it worked better since changing the oil?

Greetings:
"Failure" on these things usually involves the internal seals in the pump developing a leak. The hydrostatic pressure of gravity acting on the oil in the tank overhead force oil through the line while the scooter rests. The pumps have not been reported to "fail" to supply Enough oil. The facts that it smokes excessively and drips oil from the tailpipe would seem to suggest the former scenario. Premix and plug, or get a new pump.

So I replaced the oil pump and its still smoking like none other... Before I switched the exhaust and added the CHT it didn't smoke at all... Could it be that the exhaust has some stuff in it? Not sure ill try cleaning it out tomorrow..

Yes, it could be an oil-filled muffler.
I had no idea what you did when you started this thread with "Got everything together"

Sorry! I had just installed a CHT and a stock exhaust and the rear integrated lights. I have looked around a bit and havnt found an answer but if I'm running it rich is it bad for it or is it just going to have less power?

The muffler you installed must have already been filled with oil from the previous engine.
It will smoke a lot for a while, but eventually go away after some mileage is put on it.
You could do the fire-pit burn, or the gas grill to eliminate the excess oil all at once.
I have never baked a muffler...so I can't help you with that.
The Wikispreedia can help though.
I have run them until they quit smoking...takes a while if it's just oil.
If it's heavy sludge inside, a burn-out is in order.
