today i pulled in the gas station and shut the ped off while i was inside came out and it wouldent start. i had to put my hand over the air box to get it to start as soon as i gave it gas it stalled right back out. so i finaly figured out if i featyher the gas till i get up to speed i could get to work. it started and ran to my house no problems and now i just went back to the store and the problen has come back. the only way i can get it to go is if i feather the gas till about 10 15 mph. its a 1987 honda elite. any ideas?

that would be a vacume problem probibly. by feathering your had your creating a vast amount of vacume, makeing more gas come thru. also you may have sucked someting into your carb, clean it.

i dont think its bad. its the bystarter from the tank. its only almost 2 years old less than 2000 miles on it.

Define the "electronic timing thing. Do you mean the pulse generator (below the flywheel/fan assembly) or the CDI (buy the battery)???
