Throttle Cable Slide Seating

Could someone give me a quick answer on this. How far down should the slide (the black tube) for the throttle cable go down into the carb? Should I be able to see it when looking through the air intake? I understand the small, partial notch goes toward the idle screw and the long, skinny seam that runs the whole length of the case goes down the other side and sits into a notch within the carb? I only see my needle right now when I look through the air intake and I'm thinking it isn't seated all the way?
Thanks!

Depends how far you have your idle screw screwed in. If its screwed in too far then I don't believe the cylinder will be visible through the air inlet on the carb, but it definitely should be. Back out the idle screw and see if that sucker will shove down any further. When you slide the cylinder into the top of the carb, can you see it stop or do you see it keep sliding down out of sight? It should keep sliding down go so deep that its unable to be seen from the top when you screw the throttle cable on. Another check is to twist the grip and see if it feels normal. If the cylinder isn't seated completely, you'll have tons of loose play when you twist.
