Problem running out of the blue

I've had the bbk on for quite while now and put about 400+ miles on so far, runs great but I know its little rich and still need to tweek the carb.
Anyways I go to my college orientation Monday night and on the way home about half a mile I lose all power, it bogs really hard and sputters. I limp it off the road. I look it over and don't see anything loose. I limp home like 2 blocks away. Leave it til this morning thinking maybe it got overheated or something got knocked loose. It starts up fine but smoking really bad and never done that before, tried to drive to work and for out the driveway and its bogging again and seems like no power with any gas given.
Ideas? My first thought is maybe my premix was off and to much oil is why its smoking but I'm about 1/2 a tank down form last time I filled up. Not sure where to start to look.

Don't think that's a good sign and wouldn't run it til you really look at it. If it were me I'd have a look at the cylinder. Hope it's not but I had something similar and it was a lost C clip in the cylinder. Mine ran awesome then POOF blue smoke pouring out the pipe.

First and foremost, change the spark plug and try it. Sounds retarted but i made the mistake of looking over everything, pulling the bore off, etc and thats all it was... Lol.
However another similar problem was knowingly running rich to keep my temps down and built up carbon deposits in the exaust port, which worked its way into the cylinder walls. That stuff is like 10 grit sand paper. Might also check ur reed cage. The rubber on my naraku delaminated.

I got some new plugs ordered and should be in tomorrow morning. Ill have to wait to tear anything down til weekend, they are re-paving parking spots so bike is out on the street and can't really work on it.

wow Melo cant believe it was just the spark plug. I pulled the old plug and this time it was nasty looking. Ran a compression test and came out at 90 "little low"? but it started right up and cruised great down the road getting up to 40. Ill keep an eye on it and take it easy, been dying driving my car to school and fighting with general parking at the college.

Nice! I would address that rich issue though. And compression @ 90 is prob low. My corsas are 130-150, unsure about malossi, maybe someone can chime in. But fluck it, if it runs, then run it!

what jets are you running in your carb and what weights and springs are you running?

I haven't touched weights or springs, all stock cept for belt carb and bbk. I've been holding off carb tuning until I get my temp gauge sorted but last I remember idle is 45 and main is like 110. I know main is little high and been thinking I should probably move needle one notch to lean.
I just got my new temp gauge and will be wiring it up and hopefully tuning this weekend.

if the bike in question is the one in your sig. then just to give you a base line. I think Im running a pretty similar setup and my main right now is a 102 and I think thats is one to rich and my pilot is like a 38 or something like that and I might be running my needle one clip up. is the bbk the malossi sport cast?

Yes it is the sport cast. My main might not be that high, I really can't remember it's been like a month since I changed em out. I tried going lower on idle but had problems with it idling though I think I had an air leak then that believe is fixed now.
I read a lot of stories of people burning up their kits so just let it where it was til I could get good temp reads.

Yeah no doubt without and sensor your flying blind. This kit runs pretty cool. My max all weekend of smashing it up in Seattle got to 330 at max and that was trying to keep up with G9 and his beast.

Yeah no more Corsa no more power. not well but after the rough and bumpy Saturday night ride and 150 miles on Sunday my bike did extremely well. Going to be a great daily that I won't have to worry about for a long time. Thought my bike was going to fall apart Saturday night as Seattle city roads suck. Once I get it dialed in it'll be fast enough. Still smoked a lot of those 4t guys so there is that
