Aero 50 "shifts" hard when accelerating from a stop

Hi all,

If I get on the gas while already moving at any speed, everything is real smooth. But from a standstill, it lurches/bangs pretty hard. I'm guessing these things only have one gear, but the best way to describe it is it feels like a very hard "shift" from 1st to 2nd. I can modulate it a little with the throttle (WOT seems to make it a little better). Its almost immediately after I get moving, but seems to not happen if I'm starting out going downhill (like a driveway). A couple times it was violent enough to make the plastic body panels shudder. Bike only has 2900 miles on it. Any advice?

Thanks for any replies,
Dave

Sounds like the clutch is engaging too hard. Could be a sign that it's worn, or that the springs are bad.

Yup, I agree. Time for a clutch

Take the clutch out and have a look at it. I had the retaining nut come off of my aero 80 clutch and it behaved like the springs were worn out or broken. Good thing I diddnt drive it for very long like that, I diddnt have any damage.

Thanks for the replies...i'll check that out. I'm sure I'll have follow-up questions (I'm new to these scooters).
