Be sure to get yourself a side stand for that pig. I rode my first swap with no stand for like 2 months and leaning it everywhere. What a PITA. The slick bolt-on stands are like $60 unless you can fab up one that will work. FYI, a pipe clamp design onto the center frame tube with a bicycle leg will NOT work...ask me how I know.
I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.

What exhaust you gonna run? Any other mods planned?
Note: you may need to move the shock to #4 hole to get more clearance. Them Spree plastics sit low and typically will smack the exhaust on the slightest road bump. The air filter is another tiny hurdle with the slim Spree panels.

That is a good note on the shock position because I would like to trim the least amount out of the body panels as possible.
I have a stock AF16 exhaust coming from someone on the Facebook Honda scooter page (just threw him some cash for shipping and a bit extra for his time). My plan is to leave the spree as stock looking as possible, once I get the exhaust I am going to see what I can do to fab it horizontal like a spree exhaust. My next problem is the air filter; I am running a stock engine setup and was hoping I could tuck a filter inside the spree body panel. I am assuming I will have to trim the carb side body panel to clear the carburetor but if I could get away from any trimming it would be a plus.
Got her fired up tonight with no exhaust or air cleaner, she ran for a good 10 seconds and I rev'd her up twice am she quit (flooded out). I will focus on tuning once I have an exhaust and filter.
A UNI pod filter will tuck nicely under the Spree plastics but it will need to be restricted. I used the butt end of a plastic water bottle that snugly slides over the Uni pod foam and held on with electrical tape wrapped at the base. Poke a few holes in the plastic bottle and youre golden. Also may need to upjet the main...youll need to play with it for good throttle response.
The stock carb can be a bear to dial in with a non-stock filter since the pilot circuit is not adjustable...but its possible!

Waiting on a new air filter element, should be here soon. Once I install in air cleaner it will be time to test and tun with the rear panels off. Once I have it running well I would like in research other options for carb/filter combo to run stock panels with minimal trimming.

Thank you ntonar for posting this build.
It has been a while since anyone has come to this board with
a simple and straight-forward swap, making it look easy as pie.
Props to you for mad skills, both in execution and understanding.
Very refreshing to sit back and observe instead of trying to educate
newbs on the how's and why's of swaps. Congrats. sir.
YOU have just become "Member of the month"...WOOT !

Thank you, I received/researched tons of information from this site so I thought I would share the build.
So I went to start it tonight with the stock exhaust and air box on. I noticed after a couple of kicks it was leaking fuel from the carb. I pulled the fuel line off and noticed the petcock isn't working, it just keeps dumping fuel with no vacuum. I have an extra one I can swap out but what I don't understand it that it worked just fine on with the spree engine. I did take the tank off but not sure how that would affect the petcock. It is original from 1986 so maybe it just decided to go?
