plugged carb float bowl

i have a 87 spree with the carb float bowl plugged up between main bowl and by starter bowl I've soaked it tried pushing a wire threw pin head nothing will go threw it so has anyone tried drilling one out to a little larger size as I can't find a drill bit small enough and long enough to keep it the same size will it make any difference being larger any help would be appreciated thank you

I would keep trying to probe that hole with the proper tool, a "Jet File"
Patience and perseverance will eventually clear that hole.
Not sure I would drill it except as a last resort.
If you break the drill bit (likely), it will be useless.

thanks mike iv been trying for over a week to clear that out thats why i though about drilling it out with small hand twist drill

Ive heard of people boiling their carb to break up stubborn gunk. Do some digging and see what people are using.

Maybe Ultrasound cleaner will do the trick.

dont have ultra sonic cleaner and ive soak it more then once

ok so i just went ahead and drilled out the bowl now i have got it to start but have to go wot to get it to run it will run on the stand but if you try to ride it boges down and quits running it will refire but stalls out again electric start not working so cant get a compression test on it it has 7000 plus miles on it so im thinking it mite need top end rebuild what do you guys think am i right about top end

This would indicate the pilot circuit is not functioning properly. Probably still has a clogged jet.

How are you starting it ? Why can't you do the same for the purpose of compression testing ?

NO, I don't think you're right. I would never rebuild a top end without confirmation it is bad.

Buy a replacement carb off amazon
Type "nq50 spree carburator"
Pick the cheapest and fastest shipped one, bolt it up, mount the airbox to it and make sure the filter is good, if not there's a few venders here who sell filters.
When you say you drilled out anything on a carb, you really did the carb a disservice and we can't tell you if you messed it up or not from our couches.
You say you drilled the bowl? I sure hope not...

Agreed, cleaning in a *heated* ultrasonic cleaner followed by strong, focused stream of compressed air likely would have done the business, avoiding actual drilling. IF last resort is to drill, its size must be confirmed/matched to correct opening dimension.
