loss of power after 10 miles

Hello: I just purchased an 85 Aero 80.
It starts and runs well for about 10 to 15 miles, then bogs out and only idles.
Shut it off for 5 to 10 min., runs fine again.
It has done this twice.
The first time, i pushed it home. This time, I let it cool and made it back.
Any insight would be much appreciated.

What is the status of your Aero 80 ?
Is it completely stock, or has it been modified ?
Sounds like a fuel delivery problem.
We have member who is familiar with the Aero 80 intimately.
I will send him a message and try to have him reply here. Member is "Breaze"
Pictured below is the only 80 I've ever owned, and never got it running right.

Very possible and likely that the petcock has suffered damage to the diaphragm due to age. This would explain slow fuel delivery because the petcock will not operate properly when the diaphragm is cracked.

If it's the original peacock, sounds like the problem. Believe it's the 14mm - eBay aftermarket is touch and go - I've got an extra for an 85 with a filter if you need it. Probably should polish the needle valve seat in the carb also to keep fuel level in bowl stable. Make sure fuel cap vent isn't blocked. 10 miles is way past choke concerns but if you suspect it, I can send you a write-up on it.
Good luck

I've found this brand to be reliable as far as size listed - 14mm.

The petcock and carb needle valve work together to level out fuel flow. While you're waiting on petcock, get out a drill, q-tip, and metal polish or toothpaste, and clean that needle seat.
Good luck
