i have a 1984 spree with a 87 elite SE50 engine on it. i need to know if the sell a rebuild kit for the oil pump. i know it leaks oil and it settles down into the crank case. any ideas?

nope you will have to try to fix the pump yourself or drop $80 on a new pump

I've got a Spree pump that someone replaced the lower seal on. They'd pulled the o-ring out from around the pump shaft, replaced the seal, and then peened the seal in place with a punch and hammer.

Not sure if it works, but if it's leaking anyway, why not try it?

so what your sayin is theres a seal where the shaft goes into the pump? is this something u can buy from a dealer? thanks for the input.

Here's something you could check before replacing that seal

I've had 2 Gyro's with leaky oil pumps. But on the Gyro, the oil pump drive shaft is outside the crankshaft area. A leaky seal would leak into the transmission gears/wet clutch, instead of the crankcase.

My oil pumps leaked oil into the from the input hose to the output hose dribbling oil into the intake. It filled up the crankcase over the winter.

I unhooked the oil line from the intake and put a drip cup under it, after a week or so I could see a puddle of oil. But with a good oil pump, I found the the oil line could be open with no drips after a month or so.

cant u just mix the oil urself and remover the pump

you cant remove the pump you must grind the teeth off of the shaft and leave it bolted on otr thecarankcase volume will be wrong

Replace the O-ring first, then do a cold start if the engine smokes like * for the first 5 min. the pump is shot and is not rebuildable, find one on e-bay!

There has to be a seal in there, and it's probably a simple o-ring. If you have a micrometer and are good at working on small stuff, you should be able to fab in a new seal with the right size o-ring. Otherwise, just get a new/used one.
