Honda Elite 70 Jet size???
Anyone know what size jet I should start with on a Honda Elite SR with the Corsa 70cc kit on it. Should get my Arrow Exhaust in tonight to put on it. Also, Should I look into putting a larger Carb on this thing? I read on here that one person said 24mm is as big as you want to go with the carb and that makes sense to me. Anyone have any experience with 21-24mm carbs on a 70? What size is the stock carb 17 ????
Re: Honda Elite 70 Jet size???
I have a .040 jet in it and it runs awesome with the new Arrow exhaust. It was going as fast at 2/3rds throttle as it was at full throttle and now it just comes alive at full throttle. I put extra 2 stroke oil in the gas using stock oil pump and it is way to rich on oil, but that is what I wanted while we are breaking it in. Boggs down at low speed until it burns off the excess oil on the spark plug and then it comes alive. Couldn't be happier with the new exhaust. Now I have to put in the new gear set I got. Should go from around 48-50 to close to 60. I beleive stock ratio is 3.5 and new ratio gears will be 2.25. Gonna have to sell my elite CH80 and get me a 2 stroke.i have 2 scooters. The Honda Elite 50 is the one with the new head and exhaust.

Ditch the oil pump and go with 32:1 premix. The 24mm pwk is what I use on the Corsa. You’ll need a Stage6 or Naraku intake to breathe. Get some 16/42 gears, Polini for Ruckus variator and a ZX trans kit and you got yourself an absolute ripper.
The Ruck vari and ZX kit require some clearing on the case. Plenty of write-ups on this process.

I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.

Be sure of your work. Any air leaking into the case or cylinder from sloppy or rushed work and that motor will be difficult to tune, and can cause damage or failure to that new build. Do all your research before you begin so that you don't have to re-do things. Read everything you can and make a list of what matches up best with your particular parts, but please use your best judgement with regards to correct information. Get perspective by comparing as many posts as you can stand to read so that you will know who is giving their real experience and facts about their successes and mistakes they made. This forum has plenty of info if you look for it. You are on the right track asking for help and I am trying to give you the easiest way to find your answers. Here is one in particular....viewtopic.php?f=20&t=24518.
I read that you have a ".040" main jet in your stock carburetor? I have not heard of jets for these carbs being measured this way. The stock main jet for a SA50 Elite PA carburetor is a #78 and the upjet size for a Polini Corsa with a stock carb would be about a #90 to a # 95 depending on which exhaust pipe you are using. The pipe must also be taken into account when we tune these motors. Different pipes may need a different size main jet as the exhaust is part of the port timing equation. Also, to your question about an aftermarket carburetor: YES! You have a nice exhaust pipe on there so to balance it out, you should get a better intake manifold and a PWK style carburetor ( 21 or 24) or a CP style (scooter swap shop has these and Polini makes excellent, affordable versions of both of these) and acquire a set of appropriate main jets, (and a couple of pilot jets), to have on hand for tuning. Get some different sets of roller weights (it uses size16X13) to tune the drive side of the crankshaft, and some clutch springs and center torque springs. It is best to match up all these components as closely as it is easier if they are planned out in the beginning. Look thru the forum for more information. The new carb(s) will need a different throttle cable and you might look into a disc brake setup for the front wheel at least to stop you better than the stock drum brakes will. I have done this and the difference is night and day.
