AF18 Swap on '85 Spree, Throttle Cable Issue

Hi all,
As the title says I am swapping an AF18 onto my '85 spree. I am having issues with the throttle cable. Obviously the stock one will not work on the AF18, since the slide is too small. However, the threaded cap on the carb is not the right size, so an entirely new cable is probably needed. Problem is, any cable I find is just the cable and no cap.
My next solution is to go with a Polini carb, and I am still debating the sizing on that, between a 21mm or 23mm, but if I can keep the stock carb and keep costs down (for now
) then I would want to go with that.
Any suggestions?
