We found a DJ-1 ¿L?

Hello everyone!

My name is Franco and I'm here because with a friend of mine we are rebuilding/restoring an abandoned Honda DJ1. We are not sure about wich the specific version is L, R or RR. Because the color pattern of the fairing doesn't match to any of the original colors distributed in Japan.

Our visual comparision makes the next doubts:
1. The seat matches the DJ1 and DJ1L.
2. The lateral fairing has a sticker with the DJ1-L logo
3. The Global Honda site says that the L version has a 56cc engine, but the dashboard only shows up to 60 instead of 80 kilometers by hour.
4. Exhaust looks like the DJ1 and DJ1-L.
5. Dashboard says DJ1.
6. The frontal fairing air intake doesn't match to any DJ1 versions

Anyway, this is not a real japanese unit, instead, is an afghanistan manufactured and distributed into Chile, so probably is just a weird mix of the versions :woot:

Now, I want to share some images of the process. This is still a Work in Progress, so I going to create a new post when we have more progress (or issues lol).

Nice! Thanks for posting your find! There was a model I remember that had the 8" wheels instead of the 10" American/Japan market sized ones. That looks like them. I bet it was made in Japan and imported to wherever it is now. Look around on the frame under the bottom or front behind the plastics for a white or black sticker with the serial number on it. That serial number will tell you where it was made. Awesome find! Hope it runs! :thumbwink:

Engine and chassis serial codes starts with the letters AF, that's the reason because we noticed that this is an afghanistan manufactured unit
