Heres a pic of my 94 elite w/a ram air.
This can be done from a variety of material...I am going to redo mine soon with a black plastic!
This does help keep it cool and guards against heat seize which can accur @ full throttle!

what is "heat seize" cuz i think that happen to me...

all my air cooling stuff was off because i thought i was going for a short ride after getting it fixed , the next morning i rode it all day with the stuff still off

after riding about 12 miles at full throttle, it started to bog really bad and slowed to like 10-15, i came to a stop at witch point it died, i had to leaving it locked to a tree on a side of a road over night.

i got it in the morning with a trailer back to my house but i cant get it to start, think this might of happen to me?

Generally it occurs with a new "bigger bore topend rebuild" it occurs because of too much heat generated and not properly broken in yet! (450 miles or so).
The best way I can generally describe it is, it's like someone hit the kill switch, but when you coast to a stop it usually will start.
Do it too many times and you will damage the piston, rings, and cylinder possibly. Never..EVER ride the bike without the fan and shroud in place! The head is enclosed inside the plastic and cannot get any air like say a dirt bike, even with the plastic removed in front of the cyl it still cant get enough air!
Cooling is very important to say the least!

You most likely just need a top end rebuild brother....rings, maybe a piston.....hone the cylinder, assemble parts with a coating of gn2, check the crank bearing, pin bearing, oiler, and use honda gn2 NEVER let the injector run empty!
Break in and keep cool!

A shop in Daytona sold those intake scoops before they went belly up and the only way to know if it cools better is to install a cht-temp guage and play with hot/cold spark plugs.

Could you do this same thing to a unmodded Elite ES? And instead of drilling new holes to mount the screws can you just use the screws already holding the extended air ring thing?
