What is this a picture of?

Came off a '90 Elite E. It was located on the left rear of the moped, mounted under/next to the seat. It's on the left side of the picture.

yea the right thing is the rectifier, and the left thing is the cover/heat sink.

Um no.

The item on the right is the starter relay.

The item on the left is more than just a heatsink, it has a plug and electronics inside of it.

So it's the rectifier on the left?

Yes, rectifier (voltage regulator) on the left.
