1. ok my bystarter is stuck in the down position i guess this isnt that bad? better than being stuck in the up position? 2. can this bystarter be rebuilt or repaired? 3. And for the idle jet is that the little metal tube that is next to the main jet ?....4. does the idle jet go into a hole in the bowl?.....5. what is the best way to clean it and know its cleaned......i have my sb50 elite e running ...can give it gas and it runs on stand at high rpm...idles rough ..... i have to mess with the air intake to get her going and sometimes keep her going...like a vac leak seems like its running rich even! comments and advise PLEASE!!!

Bro-
I feel your pain! I got this thing running pretty well last weekend, then found the battery went dead...seems it's not charging, just running off the battery. So, I've got the vital electrical stuff ordered.
Except for the bystarter. Mine had 2 damaged wires- green almost in two, other missing a huge chunk. I soldered in a piece, and then got it back together. So far- I have my fingers crossed! And awaiting an answer to your query as well- I can use the info too!

The reason I say its stuck in the down position is because it presses in like all springy and seems longer than pics of others autobystarters. can i test this on a car battery?.........BTW still having ''air leak problems'' the thing will run if i have the airbox of and put 2 fingers over the carb and gve it just the right amount of air

The spree ran when i was a kid.....tec said it needed a new CDI I have to hunt down the keys and the title still before working on that ...my current project is a sb50 elite e the spree has like 3000 miles on it and is in very good shape

... i got them out for my kids for i bought these when I was a kid with my paper route money ( IF i was to sell the spree it would be for 600

) after getting the cdi of course ....since the price of them keeps going up ..I might just hold on to it

Yes idle jet is next to main.Blow compressed air thru it or blow carb cleaner thru it.If plugged get a set of carb. cleaning wires or soak it or maybe air will blow it out.Whydo you think the bystarter is bad or stuck.Bike running bad or not idleing?

It idles when i hold my hand over the carb air intake and then allow just enough air to get into the carb.....cleaned the carb 2 times and set the screws to the specs...air filter is cleaned and oiled ,,,,i cant find any air leaks with the carb cleaner spray!

happy to report that the sb50 is up and running.......28 mph with my 285 lbs.......my kids weight a 100 lbs so I am waiting to see what it tops out at........i wish someone would have or...there was a break down on how to clean the carb better with some pics of before and after...mainly because some ppl ( like me are new to this type ,,,2 cycle scooter carb) and that very small hole inside of the carb body next to the main jet is hard to see and i didnt even know it was there ...it was dirty i thought i had that carb clean due to the air screw being connected to the idle jet and that made it seem to be unclogged because i could get air through it ..........as they say over and over CLEAN THE CARB!!!!! they were telling the truth!!
