How to drill airbox?

Reading thru the posts I have found a few suggestions about drilling holes into the air filter box to increase power/speed. Yet none of the posts actually go into to much detail on how to do this- how many holes, where on box... and I can't really find any posts stating if it truly helped.
Not the most mechanically inclined, but I do know how to drill a hole so I figured this would be a good place to start with mods.
Any helpful words?
huh

remove your air filter cover, get a drill with a charged battery (trust me , battery's help

)
put a drill bit in the drill and drill some holes. now i did this on my elite, for me i did 5 dime size holes and it helped but its different on a spree. i never owned a spree so what for a spree owner to post with how many and what size.
to little holes barely help, but to many and it gets to muck air and bogs

Have to admit, I'm gonna do exactly as you say and wait for a Spree owner to answer... dime sized holes?!? That's big! But as i said before, I don't know jack about working on this thing yet... somebody, help! :)

ok my holes were not 100% as big as a dime but they were Big. i think i did mine a little to big. 5 was good for mine, i did 6 and had to cap off the 6 hole. it was just to much.
i dumped the stock air filter now and went with a dirt bike UNI pod

it works good but i think i need a bigger jet

was that after the big bore kit? cause if this guys got a stock spree 5 dime sized holes will lean out the motor huge
2fast- introducing more air into the motor with out other adjustments or even upgrades will cause it to run lean which can destroy a 2 stroke engine pretty quickly. be careful

yea spree engines are really small and picky they lean out easiley and burn up quickly so be careful and do lots of plug chops

Thank you all for the advice, I think I will skip the airbox drilling for the moment based on your comments. The exhaust? Well that sounds do-able unless anyone has similar advice... Thanks for saving my Spree guys.

Your welcome. Drilling the exaust helps ALOT with take off and adds a little to the top speed.

The pic helps alot but I stil have a few questions:
1) As with the airbox, are there any adjustments or upgrades I need to do so that the exhaust drilling doesn't throw things off?
2) What diameter should my bit be?
3) If I can't reach through to drill thru all of the baffles will only drilling a few hurt?
4) And (last question, I promise) how much louder will this make the scoot- loud enough that a cop will pull me over and question it?
I am really amazed at how helpful and giving of info the members on this board are! Hopefully I will one day be able to do the same...
Thanks again. :D

no not that i noticed best to do a plug chop just to be safe.
2) What diameter should my bit be?
biggest you can fit in the hole
3) If I can't reach through to drill thru all of the baffles will only drilling a few hurt?
wont hurt probably wont help much though
4) And (last question, I promise) how much louder will this make the scoot- loud enough that a cop will pull me over and question it?
its not that loud

don' t drill through all the baffles. 2 strokes need back pressure to run right. drill 2 or 3. it makes the bike loud, depends on how many baffles u drill out
