What is the moped riders disregard for scooter riders all about?

Founded or unfounded?

Because most mopeds are slower than a beat up spree.

true, but there's something about mopeds that make them loyal. that's what im after... is it the pedals?

In my neck of the woods I am constantly telling people that I don't ride a MOPED, I ride a scooter.....I don't have Pedals.

Yeah, because of the pedals they get a slightly higher MPG and that appeals to their tree-hugging, dirt-munching superiority complex.

top tank? please expound... let's have an objective conversation.

top-tank as opposed to front or underseat.
it means it's designed to look a little more like a motorcycle,
as well as give you something to put your knees against when riding.

I honestly don't hold anything against anyone
for what they choose to ride.
i just like the bat better, personal taste i guess.

With that little engine and big tank I bet you only had to fill up about once a month.

It's a 2gallon tank, since I bought it I've had to fill up once.
I get right around 450 +/- miles to the tank.
I used to take this thing coyote hunting off carefree hwy in AZ.
45 miles one way.

Your getting over 200mpg!?! How fast does it go? what year is it? what model? I WANT ONE!

it's a 1978 batavus starflite/hs the 30mph version
with my nephew and myself approx 320lbs it'll do the whole 30
and still gets more than 150mpg.
but they won't let me register it here in P.R.O.C.

Seems to me its about the feeling of community... when there is a community there is bound to be people excluded from it. In this case moped v scooter. My personal experience is motorcycle (Japanese v Harley/American).

When I ride my z1000 I always give the motorcyclist wave to anyone on a motorcycle Harley or otherwise. (Usually 1/4 of the time the Harley rider just ignores me because he is too hard ). On the other hand I have seen little to no camaraderie between scooter owners to other scooter owners or anyone else on the road. I usually don't give the wave to scooters. *shrug*

I would wave anyhow, scooter, Harley, whatever. Don't let their sour attitude dictate your actions.

Here in Texas it is common for people to wave at other drivers pretty much all the time.
