need advice

Hello to all,
I've just joined this forum and actually at the moment i don't even own a honda scooter at all. I have a 1964 vespa and a 2005 genuine stella. However i'm in the process of selling both of these scooters to get cheaper but more reliable scooter. I'm used to having top speeds of around 50 mph or so and really don't wanna lose that speed too much by switching to a 50cc scooter. So i'm writing to ask two things. One i need advice or info on the honda spree. are they reliable? just how small are they? (keeping in mind that compact is good). What is a good price to pay for a spree? $500? The other thing was i have never delt with honda's before. Mechanics wise i would be completely clueless. Would it be possible for someone to give me the most dumbed down version possible of ways to make a spree faster in terms that i could understand. All i would need is a little patience because i'd have no idea at first. I'm looking forward to hearing back from you guys about this. Sorry to be the new guy that's an idiot but give me some time and maybe i can talk gear ratios and pulley systems and crap too. thanks in advance.

flat out-you are not going to get a spree to do 50 mph.
unless you swap the motor with a dio ( 94-01)

dio's can go 70+mph with the right mods

Get a newer elite..I forget the ones that are better for modding, I think it is the 1994+ but I'm sure Dac can confirm. These just need a bore kit and a high speed pully kit and are capable of 50+

The stock, unrestricted ones go 35mph average

elites are nice peds, realiable too

94 + has a dio motor in it. with only 100$ you can get it going 50.

i got this when i got my parts for my elite. it said 'dio-50' on it so i know it will work on a dio.

hp= high prefornmace, aka race. not all aftermarket variators are race, but all race are aftermarket. a after market thats not a race has the same size variator as the original, but just lighter, stronger, and bigger ride wells. a race aftermarket is about 1 inch bigger in diameter, and can add 5- 10 mph...

anywhere from 10 to 80$ for gears. make sure the 9:1 if your rugonna run the stock bore. 8:1 will barley accel. and 7:1 will be like a spree with a stretched belt.
