Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

Thats right folks, they had "Import Tuner Shooutout" at the local dragstrip yesterday. So instead of taking my car, I skipped out on work to go racey racey on my scooter!. :race:

Some pre-race tricks:
Completely disabled the oil pump drive
Lowered rear tire 1psi to 34psi
Raised front tire 2psi to 37psi
Removed rearview mirrors
Removed all stuff from trunk
Cleaned her up nice and shiny!

Then we loaded the scooter onto a truck and where on our way.

Once I went through tech inspection, I was badged #82 and lined up on the starting lanes. I was almost NOT allowed to race, as a guy at the tree told me I needed to have gloves.. So I pulled out my grip-dot $1 gardending gloves and barely slipped by heh :p

I did not do a burnout before lining up, but still got an AWESOME launch! Notice the commentator mention how it was the best launch he's seen that day. My reaction time was .0287sec vs his .7758sec! My friend recording the video mentioned how everyone was first laughing as I was lining up then where in awe once I took off haha.

Going for my second try I was challenged by a friend of the mivec eclipse guy, who had a 2g fwd eclipse running 17s, which would've made for a good run but we got mismatched lining up and I was paired with a Scion TC which sounded real nice btw. Here's the second race .

Again, no burnout I still got a good launch and held him off for a while as more people were actually cheering me on this time. :ll

Lastly I made it just in time before they closed down the lanes. I was matched with a new Chevy Cobalt who was very impressed after our run, cool guy. We both didn't get the best of launches but had a good run. Last Vid

HOWEVER, I almost lost the bike before that last run! After not doing a burnout the first 2 time not being sure if I could and not wanting to bust my belt.. I decided what the * I'll give it a shot. I started spinning and looked back and was so happy that I gave it more throttle and as I was smoking up the scoot moved forward and I was up on one wheel almost vertically, while still holding my throttle! Luckily I managed to let off and somehow brake as the bike went back down. I'm real glad I made it, unfortunately my friend was just watching and didn't video what happened.

So in conclusion, I had a helluva time and very glad I skipped work to do this it turned out to be everything I hoped for.

My goal time was to do 20sec or better, and I pulled off 19.9sec @60.52mph on my first run!!! To folks who think this is slow, just keep in mind this scooter is tuned for acceleration and better for shorter distances, but we all know the quarter mile is the real deal time. And car folk keep in mind, the only thing powering me down that track is a 52mm bore smaller than my fist.

So with that I am extremely happy I did this and showed everyone what a real scooter can do.

That's awesome...it reminds me of the drag races we have here in Oregon at Woodburn....you can race anything pretty much....backhoes, lawnmowers, scooters....

I went to these grass drags ( ATVs, Dirt bikes, snowmobiles, 3 wheelers ) not to long ago. it was close so i just mopeded there. i was on my 92 with the 64cc bore.
There was another guy there with a aero i wanted to race so bad but they said i couldnt. Next year im taking my 96 and really having some fun.

But again, bad *!

Thanks man. And as I was lining up for the first run, a guy came up and talked to me saying he ran his pitbike once and got a 33sec quarter mile, then I told him I was aiming for 20sec or better and he was amazed.

lol 33 would be more my time. my 92 can only hit 40mph or so. but it does have amazing take off. (amazing for me. im sure your bike would even beat me on take off)

Yea i like those tracks, my pro street aero would eat up the competion mid 11's without wheelie bars and never lite up your tires cuz the crank bearings can't handle it

Man I wish noiseguy came around more often so we could get rid of this *....

Thanks, I totally agree. I think I will keep this one A/C, I've found a W/C kit that would be pretty nice for about $400 but that may be a future project for the Elite instead. AC is more maintenance free and my temps have been pretty good so far.
