If you have wrenches with the traditional stamped markings (not the cool, new fancy laser etching) then you know that it can be hard to tell one wrench from another.

I take black crayon and rub it into the number indentation and then wipe off the residue to make each wrench have an easy to read black number.

Here is a comparison of a plain wrench and one with the crayon-

Now that is a good solid tip, I was thinking permanent marker, which do you think will hold better?

Thats a nice idea, need to do my socket set.

Have just done it to mine with a permanent marker (wiped excess off quick )

works a treat!

have just been pulling the rear beam off one of the Golfs in the rain and now i've got green hands from the marker running...'permanent' my *,

Well I know crayon won't come off in the rain.
