85--86 on differences

Post by kim »

I have just bought an 85 Vision (aero) and when ordering parts the 85 and 86 on bikes are different......does anyone know what the differences between the two years are?

So far i have found that an 86 speedo cable does not fit and that the indicators are built in to the body work .... is the enginge different too?

Thanks..... kim

The 85 and 86 engines are very different. The 85s are much better, im sure myspree will come in here and tell you all the differences.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

the 85 engine is just plain bigger, it has a bigger 2 bolt intake while the 86 has a 4 bolt, bigger reeds, better clutch, better drive gears, the top end is a high compression, case is thicker, bigger and better stroker, better head. i can go on, but those are the basics.

Out of interest, my Vision 50 is a D-Reg, which in the UK can be late 85 or early 86. When I bought it I was told it was a 1986. It does however have the two bolt Reed.

I assume the change over has a chassis number cutoff, not specifically the year of registration, which will depend on the dealer etc.

You can prob see whats coming next...Whats the definitive way of finding out which spec engine it is? Is there an engine code I can look for?

Or is this 85/86 Difference US only?

Wow quite some differences..all for the better.
After some investigation it appears that my bike is a NB 50 MF (TACT) or in the uk it is known as a VISION X ..it was built in 84 and registered in 85 ...its not an ne 50 as i first thought ...it has an AF09 chassis No And AF 05 E engine

Honda realy know how to confuse a person!!!!
