Hey everyone. I've been browsing the site for a few days, and figured I would join. I recently picked up a black 85 Spree,and got it running the other day. It seems like a nice bike, I used to work at a shop, and worked on Tomos,Rocketa,and Diamo scooters,but the spree feels to have more power than the A35 Tomos,and feels a bit quicker than the others aswell. My speedo cable is broken right now though so I cant tell how fast I am actually going. I will put up pics very soon. One question I have is, what engines (that are modifiable) will fit into a Spree frame with little cutting/welding?
Seems like a good board nonetheless,I'm glad theres a place for these little scooters..

One Word, DIO.
a dio motor is a 94-01 honda elite 50 motor. These things can be made ungodly fast with the right mods. Tons of parts can be bought after market and everything from the oil pump to the gears can be changed.
Ask any one who knows hondas, the DIO motor is king.
I personal have never put a dio motor in a spree but i know it can be done very easy.
The only moped motor that is better is a Yamaha jog motor, but fitting one of those in a spree is a hole another story. And even if you did, it would be allot harder to buy parts.

Vt Cycles has tons of parts for the DIO motor, and at d*** good prices too. There site is kinda out dated so if you were to order anything you would have to call them.)

Yeah I read up on them, tried looking on ebay but theres not to much there for the Dio.

are you kidding?
if i go to ebay motors, and type in dio,elite 50, or sa50 (the motor code) i get all sorts of parts. But still i would go with VTcycles before i would trust ebay.
Any one else have any sort of input on this?

I meant for a complete engine, theres not much on ebay, only parts like you said. I wouldnt mind a non-runner as either way it would be modded, you know a good source to find a complete engine?

plenty. ppl sellin em on the hawaii boards all day long, also try hawaii craigslist.
