What would cause my 87 elite 50 to run sporadically until i have the rear brake lever held against the metal that has it pinned in place?
The scooter will be very hard to keep at a constant speed and won't go over 20ishmph. I can hold the brake lever up just enough that it's touching the metal thats holding it in place and the scooter works flawlessly...
I'm no expert and it might just be a fluke but it has to do with the brake lever...and i would guess some sort of grounding issue.
87 elite grounding problem....

Its suposed to but right up agaisnt the bracket when you let it go, your brake cable is junk.tpark vette wrote:What would cause my 87 elite 50 to run sporadically until i have the rear brake lever held against the metal that has it pinned in place?

I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

Yeah i haven't replaced it on this one but i don't think it's junk. The brake does snap back against the bracket that holds it but for some reason it just run perfect it i hold it (up). Since it's pinned in it only moves maybe a 1/4cm but just enough to have it touch the metal with a strong connection i guess.Kenny_McCormic wrote:Its suposed to but right up agaisnt the bracket when you let it go, your brake cable is junk.tpark vette wrote:What would cause my 87 elite 50 to run sporadically until i have the rear brake lever held against the metal that has it pinned in place?
