Its either dead battery (try jumping it) or the starter is smoked from you running it to long.

It could just be that your battery needs to be charged. If you kept cranking on the starter for more than 7 or 8 seconds at a time it may be fried. You should never just hold the starter button down and keep cranking and cranking.

well d***, i already know my battery is dead,(to start i have to hook it up to a battery charger) I read almost the same problem on some other spree forum, and it said to clean the binux or something? but here it sounds like i fried my starter.

you cant run and run and run that little motor without smoking it, if it was meant for 100% duty cycle it would by larger than the engine. Tke the bike apart and see whats going on.

Its not binux its bendix. The starter bendix is what engages on the starter to turn the engine over. To see if the gear is worn down on the starter bendix you have to take the kickstarter cover off. Its possible that it is shot or jammed but I doubt it. Only one way to find out. Take the cover off and look.

but don't engage the starter while the cover is off, it can bend the bendix

Depends if the battery is drained or not.

I know that my battery is dead(everytime i have to hook it up to a battery charger). My starter will try to turn the engine over about every 3 sec, the rest is just humming. I am trying to take my starter out and test it too see if i fried it. I could use some tips on taking the starter off.

p.s. does it sound like my starter is fried?
