How do you guys unplug the exhaust. I have always just built a fire and burn the pipe. Or at least it has worked on the small four wheelers and other 2 stroke pipes.
Has anyone ever cut their spree pipe in half and just gutted the inside and then weld it back together??
Thanks,
snowdaze

Gutting will cause s*** like running, needs more back pressure, you want to drill 2 baffles for best performance.

you got 2 choices:
1. fire
ie, take a torch to it and burn the garbage out (takes a bit of skill) or toss the whole thing in a camp fire.
2. chemical
ie,submerging the entire mufler in a solvent solution such as oven cleaner, gunk or lye.
Ive personally used lye crystals,
usually available in the plumbing section of the local hardware store with steller results.

How well does the oven cleaner work? I have a Suzuki FA50 that is carboned from spark plug (carbon short across the spark gap) to tail pipe but I do NOT want to mess with the cylander if possible except to maybe remove the head and scrape the top of the pistion. Have the muffler off so access to the exaust port is easy.

Burn/lye the muffler and reinstall it, instructions in technical documents subforum. Put the muffler back on and go buy some seafoam from a parts store. Start the bike, have a buddy hold the throttle pretty close to wide open, slowly pour the seafoam in the intake with the airfilter off you might need to choke the engine with your hand to keep it running, dont pour in so much the engine dies, do this till you used around a 1/4 can. IDK how well this works but people that do it say it cleans all the carbon out of the combustion chamber.
