Now that I have it running fairly well.....

Flat road it does really nice...I weigh 256 pounds and have my 85 Spree going a blistering 27 MPH.....30 leaning over the handlebars. My 19 y.o. son says it goes 35 but I dont believe him. Now I'm working on the uphill power, long incline and it slowly lost power till only going like 10 MPH, this is a decent hill, so I turning around...didnt want to force anything. So whats my next step for more power for hill climbing besides going on a diet?

I would imagine it goes considerably slower for you due to your weight. My '84 Spree says 180lbs max rider weight. I get 28-30mph out of my 40cc Stinger scooter (it's half the weight of a spree) and I weigh under 150lbs. Hopefully by the end of this week I will have a new helmet and will be able to get out and ride my Spree to see what the top speed of it will be for me. The speedometer is numbered up to 40 but I dunno about that. We'll see...

Spree was purposely designed to hit 30 MPH tops on flat level ground, due to moped laws in the US limiting to 30 MPH and 50cc (25 MPH in Iowa, which is why there was a seperate Iowa Spree model). It was also designed for a little bit above the 'average' rider...in the early 80's. 180 is the listed max, but they will handle more than that without issue. If you try to put alot more on it, at some point you will reach a critical mass and the motor will no longer be able to pull the weight at the same top speed. That's just the way it goes.
