Starter issues

Hey, i was outside tinkering again today, and when i push the start button, the little black box under the cowling by the battery clicks... the starter motor doesnt even engage. What could this be?

The little black box is the starter relay. When it clicks, that is supposed to send power to the starter motor.

This is usually a dead battery. There may be enough juice to close the relay but not enough to turn the crank.
