So i recently got an 85 spree it was working great. now it's not. The bit of metal that connects the + wire to the battery snapped in two. At first I could hold the wire to the connecter I could get some life out of the engin but it wouldn't turn over. but now i get nothing. is it just the connection or could more be wrong. Please help!!

thankyou. I picked up and new connecter at radioshack. Clamped it on and still had the same problem. I'd get some power. the light would turn on but it wouldn't turn over. It's possible the connecter just wasn't right and I'm going to try and find a better one. But could it be something else? Could I need a new battery? Or the connection at the other end of the wire?

Make sure both battery connections are tight. I have an old beat up battery that still works but the positive terminal is broken so it just sorta clings onto a piece of metal to the O-ring. The negative isn't broken but the screw comes loose sometimes. When it comes loose, the light and horn make work but loses all power when I try to start it.

the other connecter is in good condition. Could I of killed or weakened the battery with repeted attemps to start it.
also I would assume that you can't do this!!! But can you jump the scooter battery with a car?

Use a small motorcycle battery charger. Your problem is that your battery needs to be charged. Either charge the one you have or get a new one. Even a new battery will lose its charge if you do not run the scooter very often.

I think you're right about the battery. If I put the bare wires on the terminal, the taillight would turn on if the battery is functional, right?

Yes, buy a bat charger and recharge or just get a jump and ride around for a half hour, that will also recharge it.

I would guess I can only get a jump from another 50cc moped. Also I'm thinking the connecter I picked up at radioshack was junk. Ment for something smaller I'm guessing. Would a hardware store have the conecter I need? should it be a certin type of metal? any other advice?

Automotive parts store would probably sell you something big enough, you can get a jump from anything 12 volt (everything on the road)

I'm open to other opinions if anyone has any. If I fix the battery and the connecter and it still dosen't work what would be the next logical thing to check?

if you jump it and it starts.....it's the battery. I have found it needs good juice to start.
Give the battery a good charge and try it. If it won't take a charge, time for a new one.

jump it with your car ride around for an hour or so if that don't charge the batt. it is shot

Update. I jumped it and it was all going good. Then My back wheel started spinning on it's own. We shut it down and now it's back to what it's been doing. (starting but not turning over) I've found that the ground is poorly connected to it's fuse So I'm going to fix that. Would the be the only problem or is the spinning wheel a sign of something else?
