Crank disassembly and reassembly

Has anyone disassembled and reassembled the three piece crank?
How do you align the pieces to press it back together?
I need to replace the needle bearing on the large end of the rod. [/code]

Whats it going in? May be easier/better to get whole new/used crank..
I would take it to a professional machine shop, heard crank itself is a big pain to disassemble

It's in a 86 Spree. The scooter was not used for many years and the crank was frozen ( the piston and head are in good shape). Once the engine was broken lose, it could be manualy spun, you could the hear / feel bearing ginding. There appears the water (rust) line 3/4 " up in the crank. The rod bearing along with crank bearings were under this water line.
I'll look into a machine shop? I have seen some three piece cranks on small 2 cycle marine engines so I'll ask around there too.

A replacement crank shouldn't be much, and it'll be a new crank with new big end bearings and a new conn rod. I think I paid $120ish for mine. With all the bearings and the seals I rebuilt my bottom end for about 200 bucks. You might be better off doing that than bothering with the disassembly/reassembly of the crank. I have the press and skill to do it, but once that bearing is siezed, I don't trust the crank anymore, so personally it was worth the money for new components.
