runs good, than when you give it throttle, it dies..

Post by Arcticcat440snopro »

hey, my elite is fully broken in now, and just this morning i went outside and it wouldnt start. so i kicked it over for a while. and it started. than after i got back from where i was going, i shut it off, and went inside, it took a few more kicks to get it started after about 10 minutes, than when i decided to go to mcdonalds, i was on my way cruising at about 25-30 and it backfired once, and started to sputter and if you gave it throttle it died out. i unplugged the bystarter to see if that made a difference, but it didnt. and than i took the carb off and cleaned it. it didnt make a difference. so, what could be the problem?

well. i tried that and it didnt do anything. it idled fine, but when you hit the gas it went for like 2 seconds, than it bogged really bad. so i took the airbox off and the carb and cleaned them both. i put the airbox and carb on and it started up fine. i took it for a ride and it actually went pretty good. but, it's really *.. like if your going down the street it feels like it slows down a little than it *. its pretty noticable. so what could it be now? this 75 dollar find, is beginning to * me off! its always something new.

Are you saying the engine bogs and then revs back up causing the *, or does the engine sound the same but still *? If it * without bogging then it might be your clutch going out or a worn stretched belt. If the engine itself bogs down then it is either a fuel or air problem.

Clan carb again, do plug chop. I suppose somehow you might have chipped a roller in the trans, that would make it * and rev funny.

well. it does both mopedman, it doesnt sound any different when it *, and it bogs and * sometime. the moped itself works fine and runs great but when you get into higher rpm's it does this. but thanks! i'll have to go look at those things.

yep and a very lightly oiled one to.. its not worn out or anything. I was riding it around, and my brother ( one who thinks he knows everything) and he said that my needle cage bearings are shot. and they are brand new! he said the piston was the wrong size too. idk.. im pretty sure its not those two things because i ordered the exact things for it, and the whole top end and the crank is brand new! but im sure its not either of those. im beginning to think its something with the carb. now it doesnt * around. it runs great from 0-20 than after that its a really slow climb in the bog state.

i didnt yet, but i got rid of most of the bog. i adjusted my air/fuel screw out a little. and now the bog is basically gone, besides a slight one. and the plug shop came out almost perfect, a little dark.
