In that pic it sortof hard to tell what you did. mine is a 84 and it looks like it could flow all the that the carb could and i dont see nothing to file.

Well i took my dremal tool and cleaned it up and rounded the inside edges a little. spend about 3 min doing it. Here are some pics

i used a dremal to work on the intake and finaly put it on then drove for a while. it had a top speed of 24mph going uphill or downhill. then thought maybe i would have to adjust the carb. but then it bogs out and i cant get it go back to normal. and i do know how far to turn it. its all correct. its dark out now but tomorrow ill swap the stock intake back on see what happens.

That's what the mod should look like. Sounds like you're having other carb problems now though.

Went back out and thought i would try it again and it seemed to run normal until i got reved all the way up for about 5 seconds and took off and it bogged out again. the longer i wait the more it seems to go. think its starving for fuel cause of the petcock valve or carb issues. everything worked fine until i switched intakes. and i didnt touch anything on the carb when i switched the intake i just undid the 2 bolts holding it on and let it hang there as i switched them.

Vette Can you post a step by step... I am not sure what to file. Also, how much do you weigh? Did your gas mileage drop much? If so, how much? I have taken the intake off and there is a little area that is raised. I don't have a digital camera, or else I would post.
Does the bike still bog out at the start. The only reason I would want to file the intake would be to gain more low end torque, but I don't want to mess it up.
Thanks.

not sure on gas mileage. not much of a difference. inside the carb side u will see a machined circle that is restricting air/fuel flow. file out this restriction. it did help with all around performance.
