Too much oil and smoke

I sold my spree to some friends. I had it about two months before i decided to sell it. They have not been able to get it to run very good which was a problem i was having too.

They have told me that they are fouling alot of plugs. They will change the plug out and run it for a few minutes and check the plug and it will be almost dripping with oil. They have changed the carb out and are thinking about running mixed gas in it instead of using the oil injector.

I thought i would ask around here to see if i could help them out at all and also thought i saw somewhere here that running without the oil injector was a bad idea.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

What oil are they running? Is the airbox lid plugged up? Is the airfilter thick, spongy and clean? Does the bystarter work?

Sounds like the bystarter is not working.

If they really think its the pump

Unhook it from the intake manifold and cap the barb, let the hose puke in a cup

empty it of gas

fill it with 50:1 premix

I doubt its the problem. If they want to go the premix route you have to grind the gear teeth off the pump and cap off the oil inlet and outlet on the pump and cap the intake manifold barb.

When i had it i changed the oil on it and replaced it with fresh honda injector oil. If i remember right the air filter was good.

I am not really sure what the bystarter is, I guess we could look at that.

I might recommend mixing the gas and pulling off the outlet of the oil pump and running it that way just to see what happens.

I am just trying to get some ideas to help them out.

Thanks again!

Just dont run the pump dry or without anything covering the inlet/outlet after grinding off the gear teeth or you will f*** the engine.

That is what i was afraid of. I thought i had seen something around here saying that exact thing before.
