Spree electrical

i got a 1985 honda spree and the battery was dead, jumped it from car and drove it around everything worked fine, turn signals lights horn headlamp, the works. now i bought a new battery and installed it into the spree, the battery is new and fully charged but nothing works electrical, i cant start it or use the lights. is there a fuse or something that i might have blown ?

Is it hooked up correctly? (red to pos(+), black to neg(-))?

Check the fuse and the connectors to it thats close to the positive terminal.

that fuse is almost definatly blown. car batteries are wayyy more powerful than that little fuse could handle

A car battery wouldnt blow the fuse unless there was something downstream that is shorted out and drawing over 7 amps.

I just got a new battery too and nothing happens at all - I guess I will change that 10A fuse by the POS and see what happens. If everything is good and I have the key in the on position will the headlight come on or the horn work or does it have to be running?

Only needs to be running for the headlight.

so if its hooked up right the taillight will instantly come on? And the turn signals will work?

If the batt is good and the electrical is good, the second you flip the key horn, starter and every light except the dash back light, the headlight and the high beam light should come on when you operate their switches/buttons.

I changed the fuse and she turns over with the starter button for the first time in a decade!!

In the next couple days I will work on getting it running again - I'm almost 100% positive the carb/autobystarter is the blame. Having an electric start will make it much easier to adjust and quickly see if it helps.

they are no different. they are both 12 volts, only difference is a bigger battery would last longer before needing to charge

The current makes the batteries way different, if you take two nine volt batteries they ain't gonna turn over a car engine.

Yes but the spree wont take all the cars current unless it has problems.
