hi
i recently brought my 86 honda spree down from my cottage after years and years. it used to just sit there and get used every now and then. every time i rode it i would EASILY get up to 60 km/h. so when i brought it home i did a quick tune up. new spark plug, blew off ALL sand with compressor, cleaned the air filter, but i believe i put in 10W- 30 and not 40 or whatever it recommends. i know i put something less then what it asked, but it still works good. then my friend came over and tuned it up a bit too. he sprayed carb cleaner into the carb from the airbox. he also did it while running.next, he put lithium grease all over the belt and clutch and all around that case. i told him not too because it would slip. so i tried it out after he did that and of course the belt kept slipping. so i let it dry up after a few days and it was back to normal and everything is running smooth.but now i can only reach 50 km/h and then it pulls no further?any help would be nice
wait i forgot to mention that i live in toronto ontario and that my cottage is in Wasaga Beach. im not too sure about sea level and height and all that but you could possibly search it up on google earth or some other program...maybe that helps
clean off all of the grease off of the pulleys the belt could still be slipping, decarbonize muffler, make sure your getting the right fuel/air mixture (plug chop), check belt thickness.
well thenks but i know the belt isnt slipping because it pulls perfectly up to 50, and holds steady there. before i did the tune up it pulled to 60...buh.. there is no abnormal noise or any sounds of slipping at all. the oil in the tank is the right 2 stroke one, i dont know exactly how to check the fuel to air ratio i need help on that and im gunna change the oil in the filter and see if that helps...how do i check the ratio?
yea i think i need to REALLY decarbonize the muffler cuz its REALLY rusty...no holes though...and whats the best way to do that? sorry for the double post...im gunna upload some pics soon
