I think its a 86 spree- has no kickstart if that helps...I can get it to start if I remove the spark plug, pour gas into the place where spark plug was, then put spark plug back in. It will run, it has good compression, but inorder for it to keep running I need to keep the throttle high or it will just die. Does anyone know solution?

I took the bike to scooter mechanic who told me carb is clean, reed valve in great shape and "compression was great." He had mentioned that it may be a crank seal...does this sound like a culprit? When I had it running, I was able to cruise along 25-28 no problem..I had to keep throttle high when I came to a stop otherwise it would for sure die..then I'd have to remove spark plug and dump gas into place where spark plug was inorder to start it again...I really appreciate your time/feedback

Could be a bottom end leak, will it run if you shoot gas in the carb?

it sounds to me like the fuel to air mixture ratio is wrong...i had the same problem trying to get a scooter for my buddy to run and we thought it was ignition..it turned out i was a clogged exhaust from carbon build up and it was causing the cylinder to flood...i would try taking of your exhaust and running it then clean it out and put it back on.

After I get it started it will run as long as I keep the throttle high

Hold it wide open for a minute, then kill it holding it wide open. Remove the sparkplug, what color is the ceramic insulator inside?
