What the * is a high flash point solvent? Water? Seriously people... Not all of us were raised in a garage. :D

No but really. I don't know what that means and thus cannot clean my air filter.

One other thing. whomever owned the bike before me has duct tape around the air box. I haven't taken it off yet because I don't have anything to clean the air filter with, but I am wondering what this could be for (aside from the obvious). Are air boxes prone to popping open?

The plastic tabs over time will break. And if the airbox is not seated properly you will have an embalance on the fuel/air mixture (lean condition). These engines are tuned to run full throttle nearly constantly, so the system is put together to handle that, any break in that system will cause it to not idle correctly, cough, sputter and/or lose power. It may not cause it to fail, but it will not run at or near peak.

I just used mineral spirits to clean mine and it seemed to do the trick......I guess they just don't want you cleaning the filter with gasoline, which is what I think a lot of people do, so there's no chance of turning yourself into a human torch.
