Looking for ideas for extra storage.
Right now I have a milk crate in the back tied up to the rack with some rope. Soon I'll replace the rope with two metal plates with nuts and bolts.
I'm thinking if there is a way to rig one of those folding bicycle side baskets to the side of the scoot.
How much front racks go for? Where to get them?
Are they practical?

I am curious about this too! There's got to be a front rack that mounts on the three screws. If I was skilled in metal forming I'd make my own.94cruiser wrote:Looking for ideas for extra storage.

The more I learn, the less I know.

To get bicycle folding baskets or panniers on to the rack, you should have solid vertical support for them to hold the lower part of the bag from swinging. They usually have a hook or spring to tie into that vertical support.
I have had 2 kinds of folding bicycle baskets. One was an all metal from Wald. The sides collapse, and the bottom has a tab to hold it open. Only problem is, when lightly loaded, it tended to pop apart, and drop things.
The other folding basket has a metal frame, with a nylon grocery bag sized pocket. That one worked better.

Very practical, if you don't mind the look. Go easy on the weight in the front rack or basket, and ride carefully at first. Gone too far, you will find the steering feel isn't good.
I have front and back baskets on the grocery getter. There's a Honda front on one, and an aftermarket metal mesh basket on another. The Honda is more durable but the aftermarket has not had problems. An advantage of the mesh is smaller items do not tend to fall through as easily. The aftermarket was around $25 on eBay, the (used) Honda was about $30.

Somewhere I saw a pic of a front rack that looked like an "L" from the side.
Good call on the folding baskets with a nylon mesh, never thought of that thing partially folding.
I'm new to the forum and new to the scoot. I've had mine for week and a half or so. This upcoming weekend I'll try to get a pic of what I got.
I filled up today and I'm getting 78 MPG.

Here's a photo of a similar basket on my Gyro. But note the Gyro version has the top basket mount welded lower than the Aero. I think the spacing is too close for a Gyro basket to fit your Elite.

Those three mounting points on the front look like the ones on an Aero 50 front basket I have. If you want to take measurements, I'll compare with the basket. Yeah - if you want you could make your own rack or custom mount.I am curious about this too! There's got to be a front rack that mounts on the three screws.
