what do you think about polishing cylinder heads

What do you guys think about polishing the combustion chamber on scooter heads? Do you think it will help with more even combustion or should they be left rough to atomize fuel?

Way back in my Lambretta days, the custom was to polish the head. I think that had more to do with inhibiting carbon build up. Maybe that's more important at the stage the fuel/air has entered the cylinder.
