89 elite E clutch swap?

Hi all,
So I have this 89 Elite E (the one with the fixed drive like the spree but an elite body, thanks to everybody on here for helping me figure out the correct model.) with the two-part clutch.
The two-part stock clutch is no longer available at any price, but I was wondering if I could just swap in the more common (read: Available) 3-part clutch that most of the other models have?
Related to that, what's my clue that the clutch and/or clutch bell are shot? I have suspicions regarding their power delivery to the rear wheel despite the motor running smooth at WOT.
