87 spree carb clean process. rookie here

87 honda spree how do I clean the carb? what tools will I need? I've never done this procedure before.
Gas tank clean....? a little gas and sand and swish till clean??? Thanks for your assistance.
I did make my 92 elite faster!!! thanks to the great posts here! I removed the restrictor plate, bored out the exhaust and zoooooom! added 10-12 mph and new acceleration was neck snapping!! yay but then I sold it to an older guy who needed it more than me.

read over this guide.
This shows a 92 carb., but the cleaning it self is done the same way. Just make sure all the tubes are clean.

in the pics it shows screws with springs on them. does the depth of the screws matter in how the fuel/air mixture is taken in or are they just for attaching the components? If they are crucial for engine/fuel efficiency how do I know how far to screw them in so the engine runs at top efficiency?

there is two main adjustment screws, the top one is idle, the one under it is the air screw mixture. The second screw needs to be adjusted as the document states. The after setting that, turn the idle screw(top one) in or out till it idles good.
you want the bike to stay running, but you dont want the idle so high that it engages the clutch.
The last picture shown in the guide is for an elite. ill have to get pictures for the spree's hoses hook up. Im sorry but i currently dont have any.

Yes but its
only for the idle, leave it at 1.5 turns out.

The reason I ask is I am having difficulty with my bike running. Starts right up first thing in the morning, but does not idle for crap. If it dies the only way to restart is to manually choke it(fingers over air cleaner holes). Other than no idle, runs and drives fine.
I am hoping another carb clean out, as well as the fuel tank getting cleaned, as I noticed some more crap in the strainer, and re-assembly will do the trick. I am also bidding on a carb on ebay, and/or looking for a new one(cheaper than the $120 at the dealer) just to see if there is a difference.
Any suggestions?
