Open Letter To 'Evil Crayon'

Dear Mr Crayon (aka: Vinson Y)

Before I write you off as a deadbeat, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps you're indisposed, occupied with important matters or, heaven forbid, suffering something untoward.

I kindly sent you a brand new petcock for little more than the cost of postage: $10.00. That's at least half of what they're available for on Ebuy. Departing from my usual procedure of requesting money in advance, I promptly sent the unit before receiving payment.

After delivery was confirmed, I followed up with a payment reminder, to which you replied on 10/12/08:

"Sorry, I'm out of the country right now but I'll be back this thursday. My landlord said I had a piece of mail which was returned though so that might be yours. I'll just mail it back out."

A week later - on 10/17/08, you wrote me this:

"so funny thing... i sent the money order to myself... ". Then you recomfirmed my address which I replied was correct. You answered thusly:

no problem. going to the post office now.

Today is 10/31/08. Trick or treat! Haven't received the money yet!

Now, there's but one small state between us - Oregon - and recent experience suggests packages, let alone envelopes, sent standard USPS don't take two weeks to be delivered. And though I followed up one last time via private email, I've yet to receive a reply from you.

Bottom line: $10 isn't going to break me; it's the principle of the matter. And though our Moderator reminds us we should take care in dealings with members on this forum, I thought it might be worthwhile relating the status of this particular transaction publicly.

So, if you find it within yourself to make the honorable decision in this matter, it would be most appreciated. But, if for some unfortunate circumstance that's not practical, please excuse my bothering you.

Sincerely,

CaptDan

That sucks

Too bad guys like this have to exist. How opt will you be to offer the same deal to someone else in the future. Probably not right? I don't understand how people can have no class and then act like nothing happend. Luckily it was a cheap part right? I'm sure you just wanted some thanks and some validation for helping the guy out, and he spits in your face.

Anyway, I live in sacramento and offer collection services in the bay area. You could give me his address and I can deliver his scooter to you next time I come visit my mom in Salem? You know, to cover your losses and such :)

LOL! :)

Well, that may be a TAD overkill, but I appreciate the offer.

On the other end of the stick, one of the good people on this forum loaned me a part to test on on my Spree. I just came back from the post office to return it to him as promised.

Way I see it, it's about karma; what goes around comes around. And sometimes, what comes around that corner - well - ya just can't see it 'till it knocks ya flat on yer a**.

I'll leave it at that.

Thanks for the support. But, maybe the Crayon Guy will step up and fix this thing.

As I said, it's not about the money, and I'm not in the business of selling scooter parts. It just so happened a righteous vendor sent me an extra petcock (not knowing which would fit my bike), and I offered to 'cargo-shift' it to somebody else. I chose a fair price which included my $2 postage (meaning Crayola got the part for $8, a small bump to cover the box, gas to the post office, my time, and a fair reimbursement, etc).

No matter how this plays out, I haven't lost my faith in the good folks- particularly the ones I've had the pleasure of 'meeting' during my short time on this forum. There are some VERY fine people here, and one miscreant doesn't reflect in any way on you guys.

Who knows? Maybe he'll hang up his deadbeat badge and join the club. Or not.

We'll see. 8)

And what a nice lever it is too. Every time I squeeze it I'm reminded that -in a world of losers, there's always a winner someplace willing to help you out. :D
