I welded the factory muffler back together from when I tried to make a custom one. Put a charger on the battery cuz I let it set for a while & it was almost dead. Than the starter went out on it, so I pulled it off and am waiting on a new one. so I kick it over & get it started and it now sounds like its got a rev limiter.. And its set REAL LOW. I first thought crap I must have puddle welded too much and now the pipe is too restricted!! And left the scoot alone for a while. Yesterday I kicked it over it started and I was trying to rev it and it was doing the same thing. But this time for some reason I slightly engaged the rear brake and it friggen took off!! *?
As long as I kept the brake on it ran good. So I got took it for a ride. It was pretty quick than it went back to acting like it had a rev limiter. Than it got so bad that it would idle but wouldn't rev like the cable was broke but its not & you can hear the engine bog slightly. I don't get it. I was thinking it might be an electrical prob but than if I hit the front brake it didn't do it.
Now all it does it idle no matter how much gas you give it..

Ill check but I doubt it highly I haven't made any big carb adjustments lately.

Any chance you airbox or carb manifold is loose and the brake cable is somehow holding it back in place?

Clive.

intake & carb are tight no prob there. I pulled the plug it was slightly wet so i brake cleaned it off & sanded the electrode and still nothing even tried adjusting the carb. I can turn the screw all the way in & all the way out and it makes no difference.

I think your pipe you made is choking flow and causing a rich condition, under heavy load(stall attempt with brake) the engine demands more fuel and picks up as it leans out.

cant be that either. The brake trick doesn't work any more. besides I barley had the brake engaged like just enough for the light to come on.
