i have an 88 SB50p and used the search to the best of my ability

my plan is to rebuild it this winter

1) replace the bearings on the crank (there not spinning smooth)
2) open up my intake manifold (i read no other mods needed to do this)
3) replace any other bearings that dont spin smooth
4) other stuff that i dont really have questions on

ok... now for the Q's
do i NEED that special tool for taking the stator off my crankshaft?
if no, what do i use?

do i need the special tool for splitting the case?
if no, what do i use?

smoothing out my intake wont hurt anything right?

should i use OEM honda bearings? or get better quality high speed bearings from a bearing dealer here in town?

is a Port/Polish wort my effort?

can i reuse my oil seals? like the ones in the final drive, or should i buy new ones?

SB is already opened up, more s than a spree mani can be opened. If your pulling a seal replace it. For the price of a full tear down and rebuild you might want to look into a DIO or SE50 swap.

would i gain anything from the swap with out any upgrades?

an SE50 or a dio both do about 35mph stock. with amazing take off.
on a light frame like an sb50, i would say 40mph. But! with a dio motor, for $110 you can do all of 50mph. Speed comes cheap with those motors.

from what ive seen by basicly living on ebay motors
DIO motors are really hard to come by, and the ones ive seen are like a bare motor
how much stuff from my sb will bolt up to a dio?
is buying a 88 SE50 motor even worth it?

I have an 87 SE50p motor that I could sell. I was looking for about $100 shipped. Make me an offer. It was running when it was removed. Things missing are the carb and the fan.
The SE50 motor has limited upgrades while the Dio motor you can do almost anything you want to do to it.

is it a direct bolt in on the sb50?

and care to share the parts connection?
