Okay fellas, heres the story.
Had the spree running and but couldnt quite seem to get it tuned in just right. Took it a shop and waited and waited and finally got mad and went and picked it up. Now, she will not start!!! The carb is fresh as well as the by starter. If I unplug the bystarter and choke by hand it still will not start. I am getting good spark and if I choke by hand while cranking gas will run out the intake side of the carb after a few seconds. PLEASE HELP!!! Need to get my lil scoot going again.
Thanks!

Also, I need to get a piston kit and a cylinder for another spree. Anybody have any ideas of the best person to get it from. I am thinking about putting dome pistons back in instead of dish pistons.

Try a new spark plug.

Do you mean you pulled the bystarter off the carb or just disconnected the wires? You don't need to disable the bystarter to hand choke anyway, its definitely best to leave it attached to the carb properly sealed.
Do you have the stock air box and filter (oiled) installed?

I had a problem like this with my 85 spree, so after cleaning my carb i took the fuel petcock off connecting to the gas tank and blew both ends out!

The bystarter is in the spree. I have tried with it unplugged and plugged and no luck. I am going to check compression a little later tonight probably. Should be okay on compression but I will go ahead and rule that out. In all honesty I dont know what else it could be as the reeds look perfect and the airbox is stock, no holes. The plug is perfect, nice and brown with a good spark. Any ideas???

Try a new plug, its the cheapest way into the parts throwing game and they can cause some WEIRD problems while looking OK.

OK - if you are seeing lots of fuel coming out of the carb when cranking, I'm going to hazard a guess that your float is leaky or the float needle/valve is bad. If you pull off the vacuum line from the petcock and suck on it do you get fuel coming out of the carb without cranking?

the petcock is bad so no vaccum needed for fuel. There is no fuel coming out of the carb unless it's cranking and hand choked.

The compression is okay...about 95 lbs per sq in. and this is with a gauge that uses the hose so it might even be a little higher than that. I checked the needle and it is one notch from being as high as possible. Does that mean it is in the fourth notch or the second notch? Air screw is about 1.5-1.75 turns out? I am gonna stick a plug in shortly and see if that helps but I have my doubts??? Any other advice!!!!

Thanks!!

I would eather check your fuse coming off your positive cable connecting to the battery, test your relays, or look at the gap on the flywheel when it rotates past the little black thing on the bottom!

Okay so it seems the pickup on the flywheel is good as it immediatley stuck to the fly wheel when I unbolted and the connection seemed good there. I am at a loss...I have a buddys spree sitting here with a good electircal system and a bad motor, waiting on me to rebuild it!! I used his cdi and ignition coil and relays and still NO SPARK it will just crank and crank and never spark. This makes no sense to me. I have read the service manual and it is taking me nowhere. PLEASE anybody, any ideas????
