Honda Sprees and Mopeds ideas?

so i just got a 1977 Cimatti Moped. it goes HELLOF slow. i was wondering if the same principles of honda sprees would apply to this moped since they are both 2 strokes.
im actually using the 32:1 honda hp2 oil to mix with the gasoline. the same one i use in the sprees. maybe thats why its running slower? dunno.
was wondering if drillin the muffler baffle, upjettin, and getting an intake will improve all in all performance like in the sprees.
i dunno if anyone here is a moped expert, but i thought id give it a shot.
if all else fails, ill just get a bi turbo and bigger piston kit. lol
THANKS GUYS!

Well, i hate to send any scooter person to the Moped Army forums, but i think for your moped needs you will have better luck there.
http://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/
they also have a
chat room where you can get some quick help and tips. Im sure Saab will have some helpful info for you.
I will warn you, A lot of the people there are moped elitist. meaning if you go there saying you like scooters too, you better be ready to hear some s*** and not get the help you want.
Good luck getting the info you need. report back here and make sure to post some picture.

thanks guys!
yeah im already part of the moped army forums and website. lol
i just dont like how their forums and website is laid out. this ones so much eAsier and clean.
ill post pictures of the moped tomorrow when i get home from school haha
take off is alright, and when i hit like 18, thats like the max. i dont know why. it makes a really weird noise too. i believe there are two different size bores these bikes came with back in the day. possibly i have the smaller one? ill have to hit up the moped army for more info.
and yeah i know about the mentioning of scooters. i mean, you get crap sometimes when you talk mopeds around scooterists.
i personally enjoy both. =]

I love my Hondas, I love my Trac, I love my Tomos
Its not what you ride, Its that you ride.
I will openly say that turning on a moped is 20x more stable then on a scooter. Like, if i have been riding only my elite for a long time, then i can take sharp turns at higher speeds. But then ill ride my trac for an hour or so, get back on my elite and the elite will seem uncontrollable around the corners.
People often forget, what it all comes down to is riding.
For a while i lost sight of why i was into scooters/mopeds. All i wanted was a polini corsa 72cc bore kit, 28mm carb, intake, pglong, gears and all the other add ons on my 96 elite. I was very close to buy everything and spending all my money on it. Thats when i seen the trac forsale. It really made me question what i wanted more and thats when i realized that i have been thinking all wrong.
For a while all i wanted was to dump my current half * set (* bore kit and * everything else) and get the great corsa set up. BUT with my * bore kit now, i was already 5-10mph faster then all my friends now. I was about to spend all my cash on parts that meant nothing. So i would gain some bragging rights, but no one would be able to cruise with my a 60+mph. I would be building up up for no reason at all. Thats when i realized. Its not about what you ride, its not what parts your ride has on it, Its all about riding. Thats when i starting building up my collection, Now i have one to ride when i want to go fast, when i want to cruise at slow speeds, when i want to go off roading, and now i got a new project.
before you go buying parts, or tearing it apart, you got to think about why you ride.
totally agree

i havn't been riding for that long, but i've already realized that its all about what you want out of your ride. if you are trying to impress or one up, its a lost cause. On my spree i've gotten the thumbs up / wave from harley riders and sport bikes, but i've also had old ladies in cars honk at me and riders shake their heads. but really, i could care less either way. its just fun to be out there. Originally i was like, how do i make it faster, how can i upgrade it, but now I plan to keep the spree as stock as possible. I've been keeping my eye open for another fun little moped so friends can ride with me when they come over. I want to get a sport bike in the next year or two. that will cure my desire for a bit more speed and ability to go farther, but i know that I will still take the spree out as well

Here are my recent experiences:
1. After riding for a couple of minutes, 300 feet ahead of a Buick on the hill leading to my driveway, and having signalled before turning into it, the female miscreant behind the wheel blasted me with an angry horn toot anyway.
2. A friendly nod from a rider on a chopper
3. While I was waiting at red light, a pair of highschool quislings yelled 'Fa***tt!' as they passed me in a truck going the opposite direction.
4. An old lady asked me what kind of mileage I get as I pulled up to the grocery store.
I guess some people just HAVE to do or say something when they see a spud on a little red scoot.

If you would move away from the Seattle metro area, aka Liberial Crazy Land, you would find the world a more easy going place.

So when you gonna be over this way again? We should get together.

yeah ive gotten all of the above from people where i live.
@Dac, yeah i figured all that out a while ago. I have my two sprees, one modded one not. One to cruise, and one to take on the main road to work.
I got a moped, not only cause ive been wanting one for almost EVER, but cause i know its alot cheaper to legalize on the streets here in california. the only problem is its way too slow. so im not throwin a kit just so i can boast to my friends, but so that i have a ride fast enough to keep up with the traffic. lol
=] i think we all here are on the same page
thats why i like this forum alot better.
btw, will post pics tonight, still at school. lol

AHHA! Well, I live in Issaquah. Can't be that liberal, we got a gun store down the hill.
But then - it IS King County - the biggest county outside of the entire continent of Australia.
Actually, I've yet to make it down your way, but I really should. I'd like to see the ol' southern end of the Hood, and wha's up with the Gimpy Racing Team.
Yeah - I'll letcha know when I plan a trip. Gotta do the same with Mousewheels and the Clivester too. Haven't met those fine gents face to face either.

and yeah, it needs to be worked on. i got it running, but not top notch yet. it also needs to be cleaned. and im probably gonna paint it a lime green/silver or so. (eventually) probably when i get my kit. lol but first gotta clean the muffler.
im going to try and mod it like i did the sprees and see what happens. im hopeing by cleaning the muffler ill get my speed back. it tops at 18mph. it should be going like the sprees 25-30mph...
any ideas?
i really dont like the mopedarmy website to tell ya the truth. =/
lol

i like that, i like that a lot!
i really like the color.
Funny thing is i was just talking to a friend of mine today about painting my tomos about that color.
As for the MopedArmy website, i agree. Its very odd and the layout they use is a big pain in the *. The reason they have it done that way is for a few reason, cutting down on bandwidth, helping the site load faster, fewer flaws. And the fact that a normal topic on there gets 50-100 replies, and loading all those at once (like done on this site) would slow the loading time down.
Once you get use to it, its not so bad. but i still prefer this site any day.
Is that bike a 2 speed or a single speed?
If it is a 2 speed it might not be shifting into second, witch would explain the slow speed and the noise.
I say to start out with just do a general quick tune up. Clean the carb out and get a new spark plug.
Im in the moped army chat room a lot. Ill ask a few guys about that bike and see what they say.

THANKS DAC! =D
well its a minarelli v1. im not too familiar with it. and i believe its a single speed? but if it is a two speed, then that would make sense. ive already cleaned the carb and gotten a new spark plug. i really dont know how to check if it has a second gear, and better yet, how to FIX THAT. lol
ha yeah, i mentioned i had two sprees in the mopedarmy forum and i havnt gotten more responses from one of the posts. i dont if thats it or something i said/did? lol
i should prob use that live chat thing they have. possibly tonight if i can.
we should probably stop talking mopeds here i guess? i dont want anyone gettin mad at this post. =/ sorry guys! lol

Moped Amry = strictly mopeds.
HondaSpree.Net = anything goes (with in reason)
You go to the mopedarmy and talk about scooter they all get upset. You come here and talk about mopeds and its fine. You got to understand that the moped community and the scooter community couldnt be more different.
In the scooter community (such as this one) people see mopeds/scooters and a quick easy way of getting around. Super cheap to get legal and super check to drive do to great gas mileage. Since its so simple and so friendly you get people from all age groups, people from all over the world, and people with all different rides. Everyone is friendly twords each other and everyone gets along.
In the moped community, its totally backwards. The moped community is two different groups of people combined into one. Hipsters and motor heads. Most of the motor head people get along with the scooter community and are open to all rides. This is why i cant stress enough that what im saying now is "mostly" and not "all". Now the other half of the moped community is
Hipsters. It would be smart to read that atrial so you get a general idea of what a hipster is. From my understanding (from talking to hipsters) is that they love mopeds because of there own. Hipsters mostly stick to a group and dont really branch out. again, From my understanding they reason they hate scooters is because the people that make up the scooter community.
Now just because someone is part of the moped army doesn't mean there a hipster, and even if there a hipster doesn't mean that fit into what i just said. but what i just said is a general info deal.

Hmmm. Doesn't look like a group I'd be interested in joining.
About 200 years ago - when I was toddler - 'hipster' had an entirely different meaning. They were 'beatniks' - spudz with black turtleneck sweaters and berets. They wore goatee beards and played bongo drums. You could find 'em hangin' out at the Hungry I in North Beach, Frisco/CA - or - NY City in Greenwich Village.
They'd say things like: "Yeah Man. I'm HEP!" And: "Yeah! Those cats are GROOVY, Man!"
The question is: did they ride mopeds or scooters? I doubt it. They'd likely be too stoned on hemp to stay up on two wheels. That's why they rode busses and subways. Besides, bongo drums sounded more *' in the echo-y underground subway walls.
Yeah. Good times.
