new top end 86 spree

Post by espears »

Took apart the top end, piston and sleeve have deep carve marks from a loose pin ring i believe. Does anyone know if there are any top ends that bolt on from different models or anything??! The piston and sleeves go for like 50 or more on ebay, which is a little too much. Anyone have any expertise in this area?

Thanks.

You have a couple of choices. Either get your cylinder bored and a new oversize piston or pick up a used cylinder. How does your piston look? They generally get scored up also.

Fifty bucks isn't really too bad but you can keep watching for one to come along for less or someone here might have one to sell for less.

Another thought is to buy the $50 one on ebay then sell your scored cylinder there. It wouldn't sell for a lot as it needs work but it would be something.

the piston is scraped up to match the cylinder, so there are no cheap kits like from china that bolt up to the spree? Is the piston pin 10mm on the spree?

I hear a SE50 kit fits but IDK if the ports line up and it has to be decked, very negetive popup.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
