Rain / water on a scooter

I live in NC where we often have afternoon thurnderstorms with downpours. Since I ride it to school, sometimes it sits in the rain.

I am curious...how bad is it for a scooter to be sitting out in in the rain?

Is there anything that should be done to protect the scoot from rain (other than putting on a full cover)??

Spree handles rain like charm! As long as you have your stock airbox. I don't have the side covers on mine, and I've been through a few storms and one really huge downpour. Spree started right up even through the rain and I was able to ride home. If it's gonna be standing for a while though, its a good idea to get a cover for it. Won't rust parts as fast. But in general, rain is no biggy if its just sitting there.
