Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

Here are the pics Wheelman requested. This scoot is now CLEAN. Again, no mods, all stock, nothing special. Some love modding, I like getting as close to 'factory' as possible. I think my petite wife is gonna whoop me if we ever race. This '86 Spree picked up about one mph from cleaning carb, repacking wheel bearings (since I had to put new tires on, see prior post), and changing transmission fluid. I finished up with a tablespoon of Seafoam and a tablespoon of Yamalube in the fuel tank. I forget who posted it, but the link to the article on using more 2-stroke oil in the fuel was intriguing and backed by data. Next project will be inspecting the drive belt.

I know this is all old hat to you experts, but I've never worked on a Spree before. My other scoot is a 1980 Motobecane (let's face it, based on 1949 technology). I think the Honda approach is VERY elegant. The Motobecane is 30 lbs. heavier but the performance is about identical, same off the line, and both bikes top out around 31 mph. The Moto is all stock, except for aftermarket carb, and is well tuned and starts with a sharp push before you get on it, pedaling is not necessary. I think the Spree is about as well tuned as a stock scoot can get so the performance comparison is fair.

You could not read the writing on the air cover, and check the shock absorber and rear fender.

Nice job! Engine parts shots are nice, but don't set the context. More pics of the Big Picture please.

BTW could you have a look at the rear tranny cover and tell the Forum what AF code is stamped on there?

let me ask, I am new, seafoam in the 2 stroke?? how do you do it and what is the benfit??

Seafoam is a gasoline detergent additive. Lots of guys swear by it.

Never used seafoam but stabil keeps my carb from gumming up or doing the white oxide BS if I dont leave it full of gas. Also works as a as drier, sucks up any condensation in tank/water trapped in bowl.
