so I've been beating the crap out of my 86 spree the past couple weeks trying to get it running again before I head back to school... it's been kind of touch and go with it running ok, then something will happen, then I fix that, then something else goes wrong. Lately I get it running but after about 30 seconds at full throttle the engine slows and dies in a matter of 2 seconds. The oil light comes on but not solid, there's plenty of oil in the tank, might be a wiring problem with the oil light. Anyways I just cleaned everything out, new rings, new gaskets, and it ran fine, then I touched on the adjustment screws on the carb and it would putter out, fixed that, now this problem. I'm about to fix the thing with a sledge hammer soon... help...

How does your tank look for rust, and when was the last time you cleaned the carb?

You also have a wiring issue with the oil tank. Try cleaning the connectors with sandpaper.

i have noticed, the light comes on when there is a lot of oil in the tank still. try putting in a little more oil and see if it goes off. it is probably in between. if you lena the bike to the side does the light come on/off?
