Honda Spree and Elite 50 Forums

I have browsed the forums and looked at many youtube vids etc trying to find the best way to put a nice stereo in my elite and keep it affordable. From what I have I found, it looks like the best thing to do is to buy like a 300w amp and install under the seat and wire speakers to where my glove box is now. I then would run an rca out to my mp3 player.

Anybody else provide any info on this. Im not that handy with wiring etc. so the easier the install the better. If you have info I would appreciate it. Feel free to post links to speakers, amps etc.

I did this in a car the had no stereo once. The amp is easy to wire up as there are only 3 wires (positive, ground, and one you connect to a circuit that is only on when the vehicle is switched on).

As for putting one on an elite, I imagine you're going to want as low of amperage as you can get because these scooters don't put out much juice. Otherwise you would just have to make sure that you charged your battery regularly.

Not enough extra power from the stator.

I have seen pics of ppl running this setup. I am just curious on the details of how it is done etc

A 300 watt amp is FAR too much, unless you want to carry a big * battery to run it all(because like I said,these bikes barely have enough power to keep the lights on and battery topped off) you are screwed. A boombox is a far better option.

what do you suggest then for an amp. I want to be able to hear the stereo at 40mph. I am just gonna use an mp3 player so i dont want to use a boombox

I planned to remove my oil tank (run premix) on my Spree and put this amp in its place (it'll fit). Run a + wire and a - wire right to the battery, prolly 12ga wire at the least. Also run a SWITCHED 12v wire to the amp turn on.

Connect your speakers as you normally would and connect your MP3 player through the RCA inputs on the amp.

I planned on running these 4" marine speakers, as they are waterproof.

awesome. I just bought the amp. Do you know how loud those speakers are? How good is the bass etc. I want to be able to hear my music at high speeds.

No, the sub would not work.
1. There are not enough channels on that amp to properly set up the sub/speaker combo.
2. There isn't enough room to make a large enough sealed off area for the sub to work correctly.
3. Just no, lol.

The speakers should sound good. It is 300 peak watts x 2 channels @ 2ohm.
Those speakers are 4ohm's a piece so they will be running 75w peak x 2 channels.
Thus, you will only be experiencing 37.5w x 2 @ 4ohm. This is very similar to a standard aftermarket head units output.

I do not know the output amperage of the stator on mopeds, so your guess is as good as mine in this case. My guess would be that it would be alright.

Guess again. The charging system might have enough juice to spare to run your iPod and earbud headphones, which is a far better option on an open vehicle anyway.

you could stick some small speakers in hour brain bucket on a AA battery powered amp.

They should fit. I just want to make sure the power drainage wont be too much on the battery. it seems some ppl on here say it will drain the battery and others say it wont be a problem. I just want to be 100% sure before I pull the trigger.

Try connecting the system to the battery before bolting it all up and run it for a while see how the battery holds up, where are you going to mount the speakers they are kinda big
